Yaw Announces Grants and Loans to Area Organizations and Businesses 

(WILLIAMSPORT)  Recycling grants, a Ben Franklin Loan and low-interest fire company loans have been approved for several area municipal and local organizations, according to Sen. Gene Yaw. 

According to letters from Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Bradford County will receive $27,798.58 to be used to aid in recycling efforts. 

On a related matter, DEP has also approved a grant of $63,186 under the Recycling Performance Grant Program.  This amount is based on the 3,744 tons recycled in 2007 and provides incentives to help communities in Pennsylvania encourage recycling. 

Snake Creek Lasers of Hallstead will receive a $150,000 loan-interest loan from the Ben Franklin Partners Program to it improve its ability to do business in Pennsylvania. 

Finally, an area fire company has been approved to receive a 2 percent loan from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency’s (PEMA) Volunteer Loan Assistance Program.   

South Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Bradford County will receive $84,387, to refinance debt on a 2009 Tanker.
