Yaw's Monthly TV Program Features EMS Training Exercise at Gas Drilling Site(WILLIAMSPORT) Area residents can learn more about how EMS responders are better preparing to react to emergencies at gas drilling sites by tuning to this month's addition of "A Conversation With Senator Gene Yaw." The program features an intensive training exercise that was developed to help emergency responders prepare for an accident at a gas drilling site. Yaw said the event was the result of months of planning by the Lycoming County Community Gas Drilling Task Force's Public Safety Subcommittee and Range Resources, a Texas-based gas exploration company. "We can expect more drilling, given our regions abundance of Marcellus Shale reserves, so it is important that we have the knowledge and resource available to handle any situations that might develop," Yaw said. "This was a great exercise because it helped to promote teamwork and cooperation among our EMS organizations and will serve as a model for other areas of the state." A Conversation With Senator Gene Yaw is intended to keep residents of the 23rd Senatorial District informed about state and local issues and to showcase the people, places and communities that make this area so unique.
