Environmental Quality Board Extends Commenting Period on Wood Burner Boilers

(HARRISBURG)  Sen. Gene Yaw has received notice from the Environmental Quality Board (EQB) that an additional hearing will be held in the northern tier early next year and the commenting period will be extended to receive more public input on the proposed Wood Fire Boiler regulations.

Yaw was informed that the public hearing will be held on January 13, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. at the Coudersport High School, 698 Dwight Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.

"I am pleased the EQB has scheduled this additional hearing," Yaw said.  "One of the complaints most of the presenters at the Williamsport hearing voiced was that the EQB scheduled a hearing at 1 pm during hunting season.

"It is important that residents comment on these proposals either by testifying at the hearing or providing written comments," the 23rd District Senator added.

Originally, Yaw said, the commenting period was to end on January 4, 2010.  According to the EQB, the comment period for the proposal will now close on February 12, 2010.  Notice of the extension of the public comment period and the public hearing in Coudersport were advertised in the December 12, 2009, edition of the Pa Bulletin at 39 Pa.B. 7012 (please see http://www.pabulletin.com/secure/data/vol39/39-50/2280.html)

Constituents can send written comments to Environmental Quality Board, P.O. Box 8477, Harrisburg, PA 17105-8477 (express mail: Rachel Carson State Office Building, 16th Floor, 400 Market St., Harrisburg, PA 17101-2301). No fax comments will be accepted.

Comments can also be sent electronically to RegComments@state.pa.us. A subject heading of the proposal and a return name and address must be included in each e-mail. If the sender does not receive acknowledgement that the comments were received within two working days, the sender should resubmit his or her comments.
